Abstract
ವೈಭವಪೂರ್ಣ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ವಿಜಯಪುರದ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಶಿಲಾಯುಗದಷ್ಟು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ವಿವಿಧ ರಾಜಮನೆತನಗಳ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆಗೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟು ವಿಜಯಪುರ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ಆಡಳಿತದ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಆದ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರು, ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು, ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸುಧಾರಕರನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ವಿಜಯಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜರುಗಿದ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟದ ವಿವಿಧ ಹಂತಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥೂಲವಾಗಿ ಅವಲೋಕಿಸುವುದೇ ಈ ಲೇಖನದ ಉದ್ದೇಶವಾಗಿದೆ.
