Abstract

The 2024 Indian General Elections marked a definitive shift toward “Generative Politics,” where Artificial Intelligence emerged as both a democratizing force and a formidable threat. AI acts as a linguistic bridge, utilizing translation platforms to overcome regional barriers and foster an inclusive “Digital Vernacular.” Conversely, it threatens electoral transparency through hyper-responsive “pixel management,” opaque micro-targeting, and the rapid proliferation of viral “cheapfakes” across encrypted messaging ecosystems. This duality exposes Indian democracy to the “Liar’s Dividend,” undermining political accountability. Securing the nation’s digital sovereignty necessitates urgent policy interventions, including mandatory synthetic media labeling, algorithmic transparency, and robust fact-checking infrastructures.
