Influence of Bengal Literature on Rabindranath Tagore: A Study

Abstract
Bengal literature has played a significant role in shaping the intellectual, cultural, and artistic development of Rabindranath Tagore, one of India’s greatest literary figures. This study explores the influence of early Bengali literary traditions, devotional movements, and the Bengal Renaissance on Tagore’s works. Through descriptive and analytical approaches, the paper highlights how classical and modern Bengali literature contributed to Tagore’s poetic style, philosophical outlook, and universal humanism. The study concludes that Tagore’s literary genius is deeply rooted in the cultural and literary heritage of Bengal.
